Commercial Wholesale Underwriter

Location: Bayside, Queens, NY

Salary $75-100,000 + Benefits 

Well-known and respected Wholesaler/MGA with several pens seeks an underwriter to review, evaluate, market, and place commercial policies. The book is large and diverse. 85% of the business is renewal.  The Underwriter is an integral member of the underwriting/renewal/processing teams that ensures all related activities are delivered in a manner consistent with customer service focus, quality and timeliness.

Responsibilities are but not limited to the followings:

• Be an integral member of the underwriting/renewal/processing teams that ensures all related activities are delivered in a manner consistent with customer service focus, quality and timeliness
• Primary focus is to underwrite, manage, and sell products offered by binding and brokerage carriers with
• emphasis on writing new business.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk and creatively use the carrier resources to create
  opportunities for all commercial lines to ensure a profitable commercial book of business.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with contracted brokers.
• Rates, debit or credit business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines within individual
  underwriting authority limits to price competitively but not exceedingly, to ensure the account profitable for
  the agency and represented carriers.
• Continue to broaden knowledge of commercial lines business including but limited to GL, Property,
  Management Liability, WC and Excess/Umbrella
  Handles various types of accounts as assigned
